The 2023 Riyadh Season Opening Ceremony was a 15-minute performance spectacle that set the stage for the highly anticipated Battle of the Baddest match between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou. POSSIBLE was tasked with designing and executing this ambitious show, which showcased the vibrant entertainment, sports, and cultural offerings of Riyadh Season.
As a 3D designer and ZBrush sculptor for this project, the role involved creating assets for the on-stage visuals; a golden Arabian leopard with the Riyadh Season logo communicting Saudi heritage and victory. A fusion of music, technology, and mythic imagery, the performance upheld the evolving standard of global stage design - where cultural storytelling meets cinematic scale.
Closing out the opening ceremony of Riyadh Season 2023, Grammy-winning producer Skrillex joined forces with UK grime legend Flowdan and rap heavyweight Lil Baby for a live performance of their high-impact collaboration, ‘Pepper’.
Set against a monumental gold stage sculpture, the trio delivered an electrifying finale blending futuristic drill, razor-sharp lyricism, and arena-scale sound design.
Projected across towering LED volumes, the piece served as both a cultural emblem and a kinetic visual thread running through the show’s climax.
