Commissioned by Snapchat as part of Project Spectre, their official 2019 Halloween Lens campaign, Pierced is an immersive AR filter that transforms your face into a bold, avant‑garde portrait. Blending couture-inspired visuals with interactive design, Pierced redefined seasonal AR content by merging high-fashion aesthetics with digital storytelling.
The filter overlays dynamic metallic forms, sculptural piercings, and baroque flourishes directly onto the user’s face using Lens Studio’s facial tracking. Reactive in real-time, Pierced delivers an expressive transformation that’s both visually arresting and technically polished.
Selected as one of just six global Lenses for the campaign, Pierced saw over 12 million uses within days of launch - including appearances on celebrities like Heidi Klum and was featured prominently across press platforms including Adweek, Elite Daily, Next Reality, and WeRSM. More than just a Halloween effect, Pierced stands as a statement piece in the evolution of wearable digital art.

This footage was produced by Snapchat as part of their official Lens Studio campaign, promoting the platform’s creative capabilities. Pierced was featured prominently to demonstrate the expressive and technical potential of real-time AR.

Designed to bridge couture-level visual art with Gen Z self-expression, Pierced is a Snapchat Lens that transforms the face into a sculptural AR artwork. Balancing avant-garde aesthetics with broad cultural appeal, the filter was crafted to feel editorial yet approachable - pushing wearable digital design into the mainstream.

These visual explorations were part of the early design development for Pierced, an AR filter commissioned by Snapchat. The imagery reflects a sculptural approach to digital ornamentation - experimenting with fluid metal forms, baroque detailing, and expressive spatial compositions.
Each artwork served as a visual prototype, testing the aesthetic boundaries of facial augmentation and helping to shape the filter’s couture-inspired identity. These studies laid the groundwork for translating high-concept digital fashion into real-time AR.
