BBC Glow Up Series 7 - Snapchat Lens Collaboration

When BBC’s Glow Up returned for its seventh season, the brief was to bring the artistry of the contestants beyond the studio lights and into the digital world. For the ‘Digital Make-Up’ challenge, audiences were invited to experience the looks not just on screen, but interactively through custom Snapchat AR filters.

As part of a team of Lens Creators and 3D Artists alongside Balraj Bains, Abbie Peach, Mabu Yu and Maria Landelund the role was to translate each contestant’s bold, physical make-up designs into immersive, shareable augmented reality experiences. Using Lens Studio and bespoke 3D assets, interactive effects were developed to capture the essence of each look, ensuring the artistry held up both technically and creatively within Snapchat’s platform.

The result was a set of dynamic filters that extended the life of the show’s creative vision, allowing fans to step into the contestants’ work and experience their artistry firsthand. This project was a unique intersection of television, make-up artistry, and interactive technology, showcasing how AR can amplify creative storytelling and bring audiences closer to the action.
